Commitment to
Character

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well. This commitment reflects a philosophy of friendship, concern, and usefulness in the world.

Commitment to
Dignity

Whether a member chooses to serve as a chapter officer, or represent AOII as a member of other campus or community organizations, there are numerous opportunities to develop leadership skills as a member of AOII.

Commitment to
Scholarship

AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable.

Commitment to
College Loyalty

From collegiate years on through alumnae involvement, the reason AOIIs continue service is the joy of spending time together and sharing the insights learned from the relationships we build and sustain.

Letter from the President

Welcome to the AOII - Alpha Theta website! We are so excited for you to learn more about our chapter! My name is Sarah Giese and I am the current chapter president of the Alpha Theta chapter at Coe College! I am a senior studying chemistry and biochemistry with a passion for research. Not long after Formal Recruitment ended my freshman year, I was recruited through a coffee date, where I fell in love with the Big/Little relationships and the professional skills, service, and connections that I would gain from such experiences. I have such pride in being an AOII because of the ambition we stand for along with our philanthropy, the Arthritis Foundation. During my time in AOII, I have served as Vice President of Programming and Enrichment, Director of Ritual Education, Vice President of Membership Integrity, Director of Finance, Vice President of Community Relations, Director of Philanthropy, and Chapter President. These leadership opportunities have broken me out of my shell tremendously and made me confident in my professional skills, such as public speaking, document and meeting organization, and communication with a wide variety of people. After being founded in 1897 at Barnard College in New York City, Alpha Omicron Pi has expanded to include 213 collegiate chapters, 158 alumnae chapters, and more than 165,000 members spread across the United States and Canada, ensuring that there is always a sister nearby. The traditions and values that AOII was based on live on through each and every member, emphasizing character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. Our chapter raises money for the Arthritis Foundation through our annual events, Teeter-Totter-a-Thon, Smoke Out Arthritis, and Crush Sale. We pride ourselves on having campus-wide leadership and involvement in everything from athletics, to theater, the writing center, clubs, and more. AOIIs at Coe speak up, take action, and make the most of their years here at Coe. AOII displays high levels of campus engagement with participation and support for the philanthropic events of other Greek chapters on campus. If you are looking for a home away from home, a way to gain life long connections, a way to help serve and better our community, or to be part of our legacy of inspiring ambition, we can’t wait to meet you!Alpha Love and Mine,

Sarah Giese
